Eric Wiginton,
Director of Criminal Investigations
Eric Wiginton, a native of Monroe County, Mississippi, has dedicated more than two decades to public service in law enforcement. He began his career in 2004 with the Amory Police Department, where he served until joining the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office in 2019 as an investigator with the Public Integrity Division.
Since that time, Eric has held several key leadership positions, including Supervisor of the Vulnerable Persons Unit, Chief Investigator for the Public Integrity Division, and Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations. In August of 2025, he was appointed Director of Criminal Investigations, where he now oversees the investigative work of more than 70 sworn law enforcement officers across the Attorney General’s Office.
A proud graduate of Hatley High School, Eric went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Social Welfare from the University of Alabama and later a master’s degree in Homeland Security from the University of Mississippi.
Recently, Eric was awarded commendations by the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his outstanding investigative work on a child exploitation case involving a Mississippi high school teacher, who was sentenced to 192 years in prison.
Eric is guided by his strong family values, supported by his loving wife, Shawn, their son Jaiden and his wife Lily, and their daughter Sophie. Beyond his professional career, he serves his community as a member of the Board of Trustees at Nettleton Pentecostal Church.
