State Agencies

The Attorney General’s Office is the State’s law firm.  We provide legal representation to the State’s agencies, boards, and commissions.  To ensure the best possible representation for our client-agencies as efficiently and cost-effective as possible for Mississippi taxpayers, the Division is organized into seven Groups:

Kim Turner, Director
State Agencies Division

Kim Turner is currently an Assistant Attorney General who serves as the Director of the State Agencies Division of the Attorney General’s Office.  The State Agencies Division manages those attorneys and support staff who represent specific state agencies, boards and commissions, and ensures all such agencies, boards and commissions are afforded exceptional representation by the office.

Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, Kim served as the Assistant Secretary of State for the Elections Division of the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office.  Before entering into state service, Kim maintained a private practice for several years after having worked for Wells, Moore, Simmons & Hubbard PLLC and Roberts Wilson, PA.

Kim received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Rhodes College and her Juris Doctorate degree from Mississippi College School of Law.  Kim was married to the late Ernest Russell Turner, and has one child, Nolan Reed Turner, who will graduate from the Univ. of Mississippi, Patterson School of Accountancy in May, 2023.  Kim and Nolan are members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral.
