Accounting

The Accounting division performs all budgeting, accounting, and grant reporting functions for the agency.  This includes the following:

  • Drafting the agency’s annual budget request and monitoring actual vs. budgeted expenditures throughout the State’s fiscal year
  • Handling procurement purchases and processing all vendor invoices and other agency related payments in the statewide accounting system
  • Processing contract and monthly payrolls and travel reimbursements
  • Performing monthly and quarterly grant reporting as required by the granting agency
  • Conducting inventory management

This division is also responsible for the contract approval process in the statewide accounting system for all agencies and outside legal contracts executed.

Tonya Bierman
Accounting

Tonya Bierman currently serves as the Director of Accounting for the Office of The Attorney General. Tonya oversees the Accounting Division, including Grants Management, Purchasing, and Financial Statements. She was employed in the public accounting sector before beginning her 27-year career in state government, where she has served in many financial leadership roles. Tonya obtained her B.S. in Accounting from Belhaven University in 1997. She is a member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). Tonya resides in Morton and has one daughter, Alex.
